Heading ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ Bani ਬੁਰੇ ਕਾਮ ਕਉ ਊਠਿ ਖਲੋਇਆ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਸੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਇਆਨਾ ॥ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਗਸਿ ਫੂਲਿ ਬੈਠਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨॥ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਖੈ ਨਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਲਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੩॥ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਪੇਖਤ ਅੰਧੇ ॥ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਧੰਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥ ਤਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਉ ਹੋਈਐ ਰੇਨਾ ॥ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੨॥੮॥ ਅੰਗ-੭੩੮ Punjabi Meaning ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਮੰਦੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਠ ਖੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਤਾਣ ਕੇ ਸੌਦਾਂ ਹੈ। ਬੇਸਮਝ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ-ਰਲੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ। ਲਾਲਚ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਰੰਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਫੁਲ ਫੁਲ ਬਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ। ਬੇਵਕੂਫ ਵਹਿਸ਼ੀ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਫੜਦਾ। ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਝਮੇਲਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਗ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਖੁੱਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਸੁਣਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਸੁਸਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਕਾਰਵਿਹਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉੇ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰ,ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖਸ਼। ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਝ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ। English Meaning Soohee, Fifth Mehl: He gets up early, to do his evil deeds, But when it is time to meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, then he sleeps. ||1|| The ignorant person does not take advantage of the opportunity.
